  • So, it’s overcast and rainy in the Nation’s Capital – but at least it’s the warmest it’s been all week. That’s a plus, right?

Given that it’s the weekend, and I have no more work or class commitments for the week, I’m about to embark on an intensive bout of research and writing to complete at least one of my three research papers. Or, that’s the theory anyway. I should be able to get most of it done, but it is going to be something of a grind. Not to fear, though – there are also two parties to go to this weekend. One is a house party held by a friend tonight, the other is the Six Million Dollar Man’s birthday party tomorrow. Both should be a good way to blow off steam after all the work, while still exercising moderation so that the following day won’t be painful.

And that’s pretty much my weekend. It’ll be packed in its own way, but deadlines are fast approaching, and the semester is almost over. I’ll be happy when December 7th arrives – though I may be a bit of a wreck once it does get here.

  • So, it’s supposed to be oh-so-slightly less cool out today in the Nation’s Capital – which I don’t mind at all. Passing the mid-point of November without snow is a good thing.

It ended up being a full day yesterday, and it’s likely to be a pretty full day today as well – even though it was supposed to be slow, given my cancelled afternoon class. But given that there’s yet another Senate committee hearing to cover, and Question Period in the afternoon, it looks like I won’t be getting quite as much work done on my paper as I’d perhaps hoped. Alas.

Tonight it’s a bit of telly, and hopefully a bit more work on the paper, so we’ll see how productive I can be.

  • So, it’s again bright but cool out in the Nation’s Capital today. It’s supposed to be a little warmer than yesterday, but that’s still in the single-digits, unfortunately.

My research trip to that library was something of a bust, unfortunately. But what can you do? My schedule today consists of going to campus for TA duties, then heading directly to the Hill for Question Period and then a Senate hearing for a bill I’ve been covering. And from there, back to campus for my Wednesday night class. Long day.

My only plans after that will be to watch the season finale of The Tudors, and catch up on stuff. At least tomorrow’s going to be a slow day…

  • So, it’s bright but cold out here in the Nation’s Capital. I mean, it could be much worse by now, but I’m still not a fan of these cold days.

As it happened, I got a story assignment yesterday that’s due before noon today, so I have to hurry to get it finished and filed. I’m nearly there, but there are still a couple of people that I’d like to try tracking down to round out the story a bit more. After that, it’s off to campus to meet with my new thesis adviser, and then to a training session for some software. Woo.

My evening is likely to be spent at a local library doing research for one of my papers, so that I can hopefully get a bunch more of it finished and out of the way. Well, as much of it as possible. No rest for the wicked.

  • So, after a rather rainy weekend in the Nation’s Capital, it looks like it’s starting to turn pretty cool. It truly is autumn, and now that my bus stop is moved back to its original location (an extra block away), I’m less enthused about these cold mornings.

I was doing my best to be very productive over the weekend. I got my class assignment (and all of the associated readings) finished on Friday night so that I could get it out of the way, and possibly make room for both of my friends. So that having the faintest glimmer of a life might just happen, for the sake of my sanity. And while Saturday I wasn’t nearly as productive as I wanted to be, Sunday I got tonnes of work done on my first research paper. In fact, I think I made rather monumental progress, and suddenly that particular paper is looking manageable. Imagine that.

Saturday evening I ended up having dinner with a friend, and afterward we played Cathedral, which was pretty fun, and watched a movie afterward while he plied me with wine. My plans with the Glamazon staffer never materialised, but alas – I got so much work done that I’m not going to complain.

Tonight I’m going to try and do a bit more work on that paper, but otherwise just watch Castle and relax after what looks like a very busy day.
